Rather than looking for God, we propose that we ‘Be God Looking.’ This means we see and know reality as God does.
This concept can be very challenging to our minds because so many of us have put forth enormous effort and gone through immense sacrifice to get to God. We have approached our lives as incomplete because of the limitations we experience in ourselves and the world we live in. We long to ‘get away from all this’ – to return to a state where pain and suffering do not exist, where there is only joy and loving. I understand and commiserate with all who have approached life in this fashion, for it was also my quest for so long.
I was 20 years old when I first heard the truth from an eminent Yogi that we already have all that we seek, that we all are already entirely with God. I was stunned by the effect this message had on me. Something stirred and activated in me. It was as if I was remembering a truth long forgotten. I was changed, but I still felt incomplete and quickly returned to my pain and searching.
In the next year, when I met the one who I would come to know as my teacher, I looked into his eyes, shook his hand, and almost immediately went out of my body and experienced a oneness with God and a joy beyond all description. It was an ecstasy that went on continuously for many days. But eventually my suffering returned and so did my questing.
I devoted myself even more fervently to my seeking, I was beyond obsessed, but there always seemed to be a barrier between myself and the God I longed for. One day, something within me collapsed and the relentless drive to get to where God was just disappeared. I let go. I accepted that I could not do this that I was attempting. I was defeated. In that moment of truly letting go, something happened.
My consciousness shifted and suddenly I was with God, watching my life and all life unfold. I KNEW I had always been with God and always would be. I saw that my consciousness had extended into a deep forgetfulness of my togetherness with God but that I was with God nonetheless. I was one with God, looking at and loving all that is.
I knew and know WE ARE ALL GOD LOOKING. I know eventually we will all remember this.
